The devil rides again...

Howard voted in again, even with an increased majority. Australia stated today that it loves money, hates blacks and refugees, thinks that Iraq was totally fine and that it pays to look after number one, i.e. oneself and oneself alone.

Another thing was the rise of Family First, an ultraright religious assortment of nuts. This country is so Americanised in its politics and culture, it's not even funny anymore. Too depressed to write more now, maybe some analysis later. The loving partner and I are now seriously thinking about going somewhere else for a couple of years - it has got too bad here. I'm afraid the country has now well and truly realised its worst potential and has, indeed, turned into a banana republic.
